(From Our Own Correspondent.) The autumn weather has been ideal for the. farmers, who have been busy with, top-dressing and all other kinds oif farm worit before- the winter rains set in. The valley has seldom looked so well at this time of the year. The members of the Oddfellows’ Lodge, Eltliam, intend bolding a social here next Friday night. Air P. R. BrOwii has just returned after spending a fortnight .at "Whungarei, where he had gone- to attend the champion dog trials. Alisa Cast’es, of the Government Meteorologist Department, Wellington, has been spending a short holiday with Air® P. R. Brown. The son of Air and Mrs P. R. Brown has made a splendid reeovery from- his severe accident, and has now left hospital. , The Misses AVoodley have returned from a holiday in Wanganui. Alis® McCarthy, who has undergone an operation for throat trouble, is still an inmate of the hospital at New Plymouth.
