LABOUR’S POLICY.
ITS ATTITUDE TO THE FARMERS
ADDRESS BY MR, H. E. HOLLAND
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NELSON, June 16. Mr. H. E. Holland, Leader of the Labour Party, addressed a large meeting of farmers at Tapawera (Motueka electorate) last evening. He dealt- principally with, the outlook for primary producers, stating that Labour’s objective would be to promote closer settlement, at the same time ensuring to the producer fair value for their commodities. He attacked the United Party, stating that it would not be a factor in the coming election, and those wanting to get the Reform .Government out would need to vote for Labour. Mr. Holland also dealt at length with State and agricultural banks'. At the conclusion of the address he was warmly applauded, and a vote of thanks was heartily carried.
CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED. WELLINGTON, June 16. The following candidates have been selected to contest the respective seats for the Labour Party: Tauranga. Mr. D. C. Chalmers; Marsden, Mr. H. W. Chethnm; Masterton, Mr. B. Roberts; Waitomo, Mr. C. Croall. With the exception of Mr. Chalmers, who is a barrister and solicitor at Whakatane, all are working farmers.
