TUNES IN A GALE
MANY FORCED DOWN. ONLY FOUR REACH AERODROME. ONE FATALITY REPORTED. (Australian Press Association—United Service.) Received 12.5 p.m. to-day. PARIS, June 14. Twenty-one bombing ’planes were night flying from Nancy to. Le l Bourget when between midnight and three .a.m. in the neighbourhood of Paris a sudden storm struck the formation. Only four readied Le Bourget. The l fifth, carrying four, crashed at the edge, of the aerodrome, but the occupants Were uninjured. A twin motored ’plane capsized on landing near Aleoux. The machine was destroyed, but tlie crew escaped. Lieut. Picard’s ’plane overturned. His pilot had a parachute and descended safely, but Lieut. Picard had no parachute and had to remain in the machine.. He crashed and was killed. Four ’planes were damaged while landing towards Beauvais Chantilly.
