ALTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Friday night, a shower evening was given Miss Tayler, who is shortly to he married. Mis A. J. Gibbs was •hostess. The hall was tastefully decorated, and a large number of friends attended and a very enjoyable evening was spent. When Miss Tayler entered the hall Miss Elsie Gibbs presented her with a beautiful bouquet-. Mi' A. J. Gibbs in -a few well chosen words thanked Miss Tayiler for the willing help she had rendered the district in musical and social evenings during the past. Mr A. H. Sutherland endorsed the remarks and musical honours were then given. In ,returning thanks Miss Tayler thanked the people for their good wishes and useful presents. Miss Tayler then delighted the company with several songs which were appreciated by everybody. Items during the evening were contributed by Miss Harvey, Mrs Masters, Miss Gibbs, Miss Elsie Gibbs, Miss Sutherland and Miss Neiiba Sutherland and Miss O’Sullivan. Dancing continued arid the music was capably rendered by Miss H. Hurley.
