(From Our Own Correspondent.) HOiOKEfY OLiUl>. On Saturday evening the members of the Alangatoki Hockey Club "were entertained by Al l- and Aim lit H. Reeve at tilledr 'residence, Alangatuki, to enable tlie. ednlb to bill goodbye and goodluck U? Mr Charles Free, who is leaving lor Whakatane this week. A . very pleasant evening was spent in music and games. After supper Air G. Oolso.il, president el the club, presented Air Free with a hoc-key stick on behalf of the club members in appreciation of Air Free’s services to the club. All- Cblson expressed the. members regret on losing their captain and the founder of the club. As a player, Air Free was outstanding, and had.not only set a. high standard for club members to follow, but he had also represented his province with credit. lie has also been a representative of the New Zealand team, when he toured Australia some years ago. The club would greatly miss so good a player, but no doubt Whakatane would be glad to. welcome him. lie hoped the token of esteem would serve to remind him ol : the players here. Air Free suitably responded, thanking the members for the present and for the manner in which they had always supported him on the hockey field, lie hoped he would notch a few goals with has new stick. Air Cblson expressed the thanks of the club -members to Air and Airs Reeve for their hospitality. All- Reeve, in replying, said that it was a pleasure to do anything to help and encourage the Alangatold Hockey Club. KUCIHiR.B PARTIES. At the last two fortnightly euchre parties held under the auspices of the Alangatoki branch of the New Zealand Fanners’ Union, the following were the winners -of the most number of points for the evening: Alny 25. —Air X. Alarx, with nine games, won the meins, and All's V. Alarx, with nine games, won the ladies. .June 8. —Air Colson, with ten games, won the men's, .ami.Airis R«e, with nine games, won the ladies. All's Rue had to play off for leader of file evening with Airs V. Alarx, while Aleissrs 33. Colson, Schmid and V. Alarx had to try conclusions. Air V. Alarx proved runner-up. The “sp far’’ leaders for the points prizes for all the evenings are: Radios, Airs V. Alarx (22), Miss A. Ollsen (17). Aleii’s, Air Cl. H. Pease (2-1), Messrs .Schmid, Colson and C. V. Alarx (2:1). Aliany others sue only a few points behind and it is expected that there will be some close contests before the wiml-np of (he season, which is still a long way off.
