The third annual Wairarapa championship and handicap golf tournament commenced on the Lansdowne links on Saturday in a- thick southerly drizzle, making conditions most unpleasant. Very few outside golfers are competing this* year. The Masterton crack, T. H. Horton, put up a very creditable performance ill the qualifying founds, which were played on Saturday, completing .tlie course in the morning in 7S, bogey for the course, and in the afternoon in 73.
