MOUNTED RIFLES CAMP.

MILITARY BALL TO-.MGHT To~.dav saw a very important event at the Mounted Rifles Camp at Waverley for General Young, officer commanding N.Z. Forces, held his inspection of the troops at the racecourse. They were put through various revolutions showing the work they had been doing during the past week and acquitted themselves most creditably; 'The parade ended with the march past, the General taking the salute. The annual Regimental Ball will he held this evening and promises to he a most successful function. The inspection by the O.C. camp, Colonel Foley, was carried out on Sunday morning and was followed by a church parade, the service being conducted by Chaplain Rich, and the music was played by the Queen Alexandra Regimental Band. ' Sunday afternoon saw a great attendance of. visitors from all parts of the district who closely inspected alt tlie surroundings and took a keen interest in all they saw. The afternoon was enlivened by the strains of the Regimental Band which performance was very popular. The Y.M.C.A. staff is having a busy time and is keeping the men interested and their evenings are occupied with concert and picture programmes and wireless concerts. Altogether the programme of work is proving most useful and practical and the commandant and staff speak highly of the standard of work shown.
