(From Our Own Oar-respondent-). TUG-OF-WAR- MEETING. Several enthusiasts, t-oge-ther with the mole members of the Library Ocnimitiee, mot on. Saturday night at the looaf hall to make initial 'arrangements for a, ting-of-war and lay-stick competition to be held in the near future. Mir W. F. Sandford occupied the chair, and the following committee was elected, with power to add to their number: — Messrs W. F. and E. F. Sandi'crd, J. and G. Bighain, J. O’Dea, Y. Sheerin, -T. Smith. W. Benton and W. Biclxeno (secretary). The officials elected were: Messrs J. O’Shea and A. Hansen starters and judges), J. Russell (timekeeper), .J. Paitterso.il (cap steward), and T. Kilpatrick and E. L. Bigham (doorkeepers). It- was 1 proposed, to run three contests- Hgavvweight pull (open weights) of £lO prize; light-weight team, 11 stone, maximum or aggregate of less than 55 stone', for £7 10s prize; and a school bo vs’ jull for £l. Entrance fee was- fixed at 12s 6d per team of five men. There was considerable discussion relative to a lazy-sttck match -between two well-discussed champions as a draw, bust doubt was expressed as to facilities ■ <-, A urea to stage this contest. It was decided to run a lazy-stock contest in two classes, -light-weight _under 10.7, and heavy-weight, over 10.7, for sweepstake prizes. A very enjoyable social .and dance was held by the local > Anglican congregation last Friday evening, Mrs N. Woods’ orchestra supplying the music and the ladies catering for the supper. On Wednesday evening the children's Sunday School tea. was held, and, under the capable management of the Rev. E. F. Orchard, Mr W. Bailey and the teachers, the children had a fine time
