EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT.

AIEETING AT OKAIAWA. After a wet morning the weather cleared a little to enable' followers to meet at the Okaiawa Hotel for their Okaiawa hunt. Striking in from the road by the factory, the hounds made across country to the plantation, where after a fruitless search for “puss,” tried in turn scrub, plantation, gully, hedges and turnips, but without success. Followers had a few jumps in the meanwhile, all jumping well. Later in the afternoon heavy rain set in, driving the riders to any sort of cover, but as this showed no signs of abating followers continued tlie search. Presently, while crossing an open paddock, the followers noticed a hare crossing in front of a wire fence. All were after her, and things were livened up a bit by a good run across country over the boxtborn until “puss” was lost in a gully and plantation. After again searching for a while followers, who were by now nearly soaked, returned to the Okaiawa. Hotel, where they partook of an acceptable cup of tea. The next meet, which was set for Manaia on 'Wednesday, 23rd, will be held on Tuesday, 22nd.

Among the followers were: DeputyMaster D. Crocker (Roaming). Huntsman Aliles (Dingle Pride), Miss' AI. Washer (Molly Paul), A. Mitchell (Buenos Aires), H. Washer (Afoascar). N. Crocker (Royal Park), D. Spratt (Vitality), G. Twidle (Gold Breech), J. McCarty (Chyrria).
