SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

ELTHAM-TAKOU CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. The report to be submitted to the annual meeting of the Eltham-Takou Sheep Dog Trial Club on Friday next by the president shows that steady progress had been made ,and that the record established at the 1927 trials had been exceeded at the 1928 meeting. The number of competitors and dogs competing established a record for Taranaki, and perhaps further afield. The work of practically all the dogs competing was very good, and the success of some of the' young competitors was very gratifying. In many cases tli were competing against some of the best dogs in the North Island. TOWN SUPPORT. The club’s success is in a large measure due to' the very substantial support received from Eltham members. This support wil undoubtedly increase, and he hoped to see a sub-committee elected in Eltham this year. FINANCE. While not working on commercial lines, yet it is very necessary that a strong reserve should lie gradually built up. The fixed deposit of £9O last 1 year has been increased to £125, and can still be slightly added to.

GROUPING OF CLUBS. ■ He believed it would be a benefit to all dog trial clubs if they were grouped together in districts, taking as an. example, say from Waitotara to Awakino. This group would hold annual District Championship Meetings, on a ground to be selected by the group, or N.I. Association, each year.
