ALPINE CLUB.
CUTTING OF SKI TRACK. The National Park Board has granted permission to the Mount Egmont Alpine Club to cut the scrub necessary to make a ski track, and the members have also promised their support to anything the club may undertake toAvards improving the facilities for climbing and tourist attractions on the mountain. The proposed track Avill bo situated on the Stratford Plateau and Avill provide excellent ski-ing, as there will be a fall of 300 feet, running out on to a level area, thus doing away Avith any danger. The track is to be 37 chains in length and about one chain wide. The rapid approach of the AA'inter and the possibility of shoav on the loavoislopes of the mountain at an early date make it imperative that the club should get to Avorlt at once, and for this purpose a party is going up on Sunday 20th. Parties are going from Stratford, iManaia, Eltham, and Kaponga meeting at the Stratford Plateau nr 10 a.m. The HaAvera party is due to leave Dawsons at about 9 a.m. Air. Rod Symo and the secretary (Mr. T. F. AlcKenzie) are organising the excursion. Ladies will be welcomed and the trip will not be very strenuous for them.
