CORRESPONDENCE.
RACE DAYS. i (To the Editor). Sir, —There is quite a. lot of dissatisfaction at the action of the Egmont Racing Club in choosing Thursdays and Saturdays for their race meetings. A prominent member of the club, in conversation with the writer on the subject, said the club had found it secured the best gate money on thosv. days. That may be so, but as a sporting hotly it should have shown a little consideration for other sports bodies. As it is they now butt in on the cricketers in summer and the footballers in winter, and both these bodies are detrimentally affected. The business people, or a majority of them, also express strong disapproval,' claiming that the racing club has “pinched ’ their two best business days. The racing club is assured of a good “gate’’ whatever days it might choose, and surely it should be prepared to lose a pound or two rather than interfere with kindred bodies. —I am etc., OKAIAWA.
