FAST TRAVELLING.
ACROSS NORTH AMERICA. AEROPLANES AND TRAINS. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (UNITED SERVICE.) Received 10.35 a.m. to-day. NEW YORK. May 16. A national transportation system, combining aeroplanes and the fastest trains, is being inaugurated to cut the time from New York to San Francisco by exactly two days. Th:we wall b© parallel rail and air .services an order to avoid tiring passengers unduly by prolonged air flights. A _ tourist 'coulcl slant early in the morning from New York, fly all day to Chicago, and there take the night train, get a comfortable sleep to Omaha, catch an aeroplane again next morning and finally arrive at Sail Francisco aboard a train 50 bom's after leaving home. The Pennsylvania railways and the National Air ‘Transport Company, with the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe railway in the west, are handling the scheme.
