BOWSER STATIONS.
EMPLOYMENT OF FEMALES
LBV TEI.ISGBAPO PHEBB ASSOOtATiON | AUCKLAND, May 15.
Giving a reserved judgment in the Arbitration Court, whether females can be employed at bowser stations, Mr. Justice Frazer said that females may be employed at work coming within the scope of clause seven of the motor mechanics award at the rate of wages prescribed. Their hours of work, however, were limited by statutory restrictions. Much of the work set out in other clauses was unsuitable for females. and referred specially to men. 1 n those cases the court was of the opinion that the provisions of the award and amending order indicated that females were not to be employed, if a *■‘worker” provided for in clause 7 were employed for more than fifty hours in one week, lie must be paid the appropriate rate of wages and overtime for that- week.
