MANAIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ST. CUTHBERT’S CHURCH. The annual meeting of St. Cuthbert’s Church, Manaia, was held- on Thursday. There was a good attendance of parishioners. The Rev. C. W. Solomon presided. In his report, he said the attendances at all services were well maintained and mentioned the various improvements made to the church and gifts received during the year. The vicar thanked the churchwardens, Vestrymen, lav readers, Sunday School teachers, the organist, and members of the Ladies’ Guild and all who helped the church during the year. The balance-sheet, showing a profit of £35, was adopted. Mr C. W. Abbott -was reappointed vicar’s warden; Mr H. C. Fendall was re-elected parishioners’ warden, and the following were elected to the Vestry: Dr. C. R. Davies, Messrs J. A. Hansen, V. H. Hobday, W. Leppard and C. T. Thomas. PERSONAL, The late Mrs J. Honore, whose death occurred at the Ha.wera Hospital, was very highly esteemed by all who. knew her. She and her husband resided for many years at Otakeho, Mr Honore holding the position of schoolmaster there for over 30 years. Since retiring from that position, about 30 years ago, he has resided in Manaia. The funeral was a private one and took place at Manaia on Thursday, the Rev. R. Miller officiating.
