PARK CLUB. CONCLUSION OF THE SEASON. A most interesting afternoon was spent by the ladies of the Park Croquet Club yesterday, when the concluding ceremony of the .season was held in the presence of a large gathering, when competitions were held and the presentation of trophies took place. In welcoming the visitors, Airs. Tait (president) said she regretted, the club had not played so many inter-club fixtures as could- have been wished, owng to the tournament and the Campbell and AlcL’Dowie Cup competitions. She hoped more would l>e played next year, and- that the visitors would again be present on the- green. She then called -on Airs-. Pacey to make the presentations. It was- a very pleasant duty, said Airs. Pacey, to present the honorary secretary (Airs. J. W. Harding) with a Victorian posy from the club as a token of esteem. Other bouquets were presented by Airs. Pacey to -Mrs. Tait and to Airs. Bull, of the Hawera. Club, as a mark of appreciation for the assistance she- had given the Park Club. The first male member of the- Park Club- (Air. J. Ex-lev) was presented with a buttonhole. The bouquets were made and presented by Airis. T. C. Hobbs.

A maidenhair fern presented to the club by Mrs. F. Meredith was won in a competition by Mrs. P. Meredith. The correct number was 460. Mrs. S. Barrow’s bag was won by Mrs. W. O’Brien, the correct number being 37. Over .£4 was collected during the: day. Competitions were going all the afternoon. Golf croquet was controlled by Mrs. .T. W. Harding. a. ladder game by Mrs. Ashton, -angle hoops by Sirs. Tait (president), ringing the bell by Airs. Murdoch, and trail croquet by Mrs. W. It. Shaw. Afternoon tea was in charge of Airs. Meredith. 7n all the competitions charges were made to swell the fund promoted to secure a pavilion and better grounds for the: growing club. The prize-winners for the season were:— Handicap Singles.—Mrs. J. AV. Harding; runner-up, Airs. Alanners. Handicap Doubles. —Alesdames Alurdoeh and Catran; runners-up, Mesdames Tait and AVriglit . Wednesday Competitions.—Break: Airs. Ashton. French croquet: Mrs. Barrow and Airs. J. Exloy tied for fir.st place. Competitions won during the afternoon were: —Ladder games: All's. Alilroy 1. Airs. Hollis (Okaiawa) 2. Binging the hell: Air. Homer (Patea) 1, Airs. Snowdon (Alanaia) 2. Trail croquet: Mrs. Horner (Patea) I, Airs. Evans (Hawera) 2. Angle croquet: Airs.
