ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE.
CONDEMNED MAN’S ACT. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELKCTRK TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, May 1. Browne, one of those condemned for shooting Constable Gutteridge, attempted to commit suicide in Pen to nville prison, says the “Daily Express.” He tried to out his throat with a piece of steel while, in bed, inflicting severe wounds half an inch deep. The warder, on entering the condemned cell, noticed bloodstains on the bedding and summoned the governor and a doctor. Browne’s wounds were dressed, and lie was carried in a weak condition to the hospital.
