(From Our Own Correspondent.) FAREWELL SOCIAL. Oil Thursday evening a farewell social was tendered to Airs, ancl Air. A. Marx, who will be leaving the district shortly. Mr. Alarx is a life resident of the district, and is a son of Air. and Airs. Jacob Alarx, who have just recently celebrated their golden wedding. Air. Colson, who, on behalf of the local residents, made a. presentation of a. fine oak eight-day clock and a. travelling rug to Air. and Airs. Marx respectively, expressed the appreciation of the work done by them in connection with local interests, and regretted the great loss the district would sustain. He wished them every success in their new home. AH*. A. Marx suitably replied. Supper was provided by the ladies, while, the music was supplied by Sait’s orchestra, Air. C. Barker acting as AI.C. TENNIS BALL. Much interest has been taken in the local club’s annual ball, which is to be held in the hall to-morrow evening. Provisions are well in hand, and a most- successful evening is expected.
