NEW PLYMOUTH LADIES’ TOURNEY. MISS A. QUIN CHAMPION. The standard of golf shown at the annual ladies’ tourney in New Plymouth, which concluded on Tuesday, was generally excellent, and the meeting is specially noteworthy and interesting to South Taranaki players because of the fact that Miss A. Quin, of Eltharn, playing consistently throughout, came right through and secured the championship, beating Miss Dell in tlie final 6 lip and 4 to play. In the semi-finals Miss Dell created a sensation by beating Mrs. Collin son (of Palmerston North), a New Zealand champion, by one up after a fine struggle, and Miss Quin, playing good golf, beat Miss Brewster 3 up and 2. Miss Quin thoroughly deserved her win and the victory was very popular. The results were: Semi-finals. Miss Dell beat Mis. Oollinson, 1 up. Miss Quin'beat IMiiss Brewster 1 up and 2. Final. Miss Quin beat Miss Dell 8 up and 4. The winner scored a two at tlie v tenth and a. three at tlie eleventh. At the conclusion the trophies were presented by Mrs. Mac Diarmid, who expressed the pleasure felt at .seeing so many \ isitors, especially . the strong team r.f nine from Wanganui, tlie New Zealand champion from Palmerston North and the Eltharn players.
