LIMERICK’S GOOD EARNINGS.

GLOAMING'S RECORD THREATENED. During - his successful autumn campaign in the Oomrnonwealth, Limerick competed in five races and won on every occasion. Eoitr of the races' were weight-for-age events, and-the last was a handicap, the King's Cup, in which he registered his best performance, earning the reputation of being the best horse of the present time, in Australia or New Zealand, over any distance.

Limerick’s stake-earnings have now passed £32,000, but first honours as a money-winner are still held by Gleaming, whose total is £43,100. Heroic won £38,062 10s; Eurythmic, £3-6,8911; Windbag, £35,9(12; and David £31,410 10s. Limerick has a bit yet to make up to top the bill as the biggest stakewinner. Of course, it is just a question of his keeping sound to threaten Gloaming’s record, if he docs not beat it. While one is on the subject of stakeearnings it is well to remember Carbine’s winnings of £29,620, the best for a long period. Limerick is to be treated to a spell before being got ready for tlio spring meetings at Sydney, which commence early in September. Air. Knight’s great galloper has done -well in Australia from a physical point of view, and who knows that lie will not make further improvement on what he has done, great and all as that is? The five races won by Limerick during his recent campaign in Australia, added a further £7,444 to his earnings, which now stand at the grand total of £32,370. METROPOLITAN STAKES.
