DAYLIGHT SAVING.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Though much has been said on this vexatious question, may we encroach on your valuable Lspaee to the extent of adding a few more comments •on the matter.

With reference to Daylight Saving letters it is evident that your correspondent “To the Point” has considered himself the “point” around which the prosperity of New Zealand centres. Allowing that his exaggerated figure “98 per cent.” is correct for New Zealand’s dependence for her prosperity on primary products, how much of this is dairy produce, for it seems to be dairy farmers alone who are opposed to this Act P We should like to remind him that there are other primary producers besides dairy farmers. . Are the sheep farmers opposed to the bill? Are miners and timber millers against it? Even then we are omitting minor industries such as flax milling and fruit growing. If dairy produce comprises even half of New Zealand’s products and if all the dairy fanners are complaining, they cannot consider themselves a majority, for think of the factory hands and hundreds of others, engaged in manufacturing and marketing even this product. Not all of them are opposed to Summer Time. Your worthy paper made an interesting plebiscite. The figures were, we considered, satisfactory. South Taranaki is undoubtedly the strongest centre of opposition to Summer Time, and we feel that if the Government' would give all the people of New Zealand an opportunity to express their views they would decide as we have. done : That Summer Time is worth a return match. We shall- not extend our discourse further except to remind your correspondents that not all the younger generation suffer, through Mr. Sidey’s Act. We remain,—
