SPORTS POSTPONED.
MANAIA ANNUAL GATHERING.
TO BE HELD NEXT SATURDAY,
The postponement until Saturday next of the Manaia Hibernian Sports On]b’is eighth annual gathering, which was to have been held on the Allan ala Domain to-day wa-s necessitated as a result of the heavy down pour of bain which, despite indications during the morning that the afternoon might be clear, was renewed with increased volume shortly before midday. Evidence of the popularity of the fixture was given when, in the teeming rlain, visitors from the town and all parts of tike countryside began to arrive on the grounds and the scheduled hour of commencement (12.30 p.m.) found a crowd of about 400 lodged on the stand and in cars round the ringside. The inside of the track being under water in many places, it was practically impossible to proceed with the programme. After a meeting of the committee the preseident, Mr J. A. Hansen, announced the postponement, and flic majority of those who had paid for admission accepted pas'se's for admittance next Saturday.
