The wicket was slow and the outfield heavy and .wet. The majority of the Otago batsmen were unable to handle the -conditions and the side wos all out for 153. Oavanagh 36, Ma/thcs-on 41, McGregor not out 52, were, the chief scorers, the remainder giving a weak exhibition. Inder, four for 37, and Hodge, two for 29, were the most successful howlers.

The home team replied with 178, Inder giving an aggressive display for 52, including f-our sixes. Robertson -27, Gatto 26, Milnes 19, Maddigan not ou't 14, Hodge 13 and McDonald 10 reached double figures. -Oavanagh, three for 36, Proctor one for 8, and Caskie one for 3, sec-ured the best 'bowling averages. Neither side was up to usual representative strength.
