A special meeting of the Hawera Bov Scouts’ Committee was l held last evening in 'the Scout Hall, Mr E. Dixon 'presiding over a fair attendance. Business of general routine nature was discussed. A report presented by Air Cowie showed 1 that the troop was very fortunate iu possessing fine up-to-date equipment with which to work, namely, a splendid hall, fully equipped with necesasry crockery, tables, mats, etc. The camping -gear included three good tents and cooking utensils, the trek cart, a first aid kit and a few signalling flags and staves. It was unanimously decided to recommend Mr Cowie to the New Zealand Council to be appointed as Scoutmaster to the Hawera troop.
As an ambulance instructor was urgently required for the more advanced, scouts, it was decided to appoint Mr W. J. Shepperd (subject to his approval) instructor to the Hawera troop. Lieut. S. R. Veitch, of the Legion of Frontiersmen, who had offered his services as instructor in signalling, was accorded a vote of thanks and 'his kind offer gratefully accepted.
