MANY WEEK-END CLIMBERS. Yesterday was-a day of activity ac Dawson Falls, many, climbers making, tho hostel their headquarters for the day. A new recent in one-day ascents was made by Mr Campbell McAllister, of Stratford, who made three trips to the summit in somewhat faster tim.* than that, established recently by Mr Pod Syme. He did the traverse from Dawson Falls to the North Egmont House, then climbed to the summit, again returning to the house before setting out on his second complete trot verse of the peak to Dawson Falls. A large number of South Taranaki climbers were on the .mountain during life day. Mr Samuel Turner lead a party from Hawera to the summit, Mr Rod Syme made the ascent with a party of nine and Mr Carter, of Hawera, ivont ( to the summit accompanied by his three sons and three other youths. A Stratford partv of six, led by Mr 0. Fooks, visited Dawrnon Falls after en ascent from the Stratford side. Mr Brian Raw-son, Manaia, lid the traverse from the North Egmoni 7T( use tc the Falls. Next* Saturday a partv of 18 Mati.ua High School boys will sot out for the summit under the guidance of Mr R.d Syme.
