15-MILE PACE TO N. AD LAM. The Kaponga Cycle Club’s fifteenmile road race round the ManaiaMangawliero Roads block on Saturday resulted in a win for N. Adi am, who, with 34 minutes handicap, just snatched victory on the winning post from C. Lyndon (4Jmin.). G. Johns and Hosie (2mm.) also fought out a good finish for third and fourth places. The eleven riders sent off by starter H. AV. Bocoelc experienced a troublesome head wind at the outset of the contest, this condition continuing until turning out of the Manaia Road, the run thenceforward being much easier. The times recorded were, for junior riders, very good under the circumstances. Messrs AV. H. L. Roberts, R. J. Payne, and AA T . J. Noonan officiated as timekeepers and judges. The race resulted: N. Twenty-two of the forty-fivo games drawn for the Bowling Club’s champion pairs competition have so far been played. Owing to the time limit (March 31), however, it is unlikely that all the pains will fulfil their engagements. Roberts and Hawkins, . with six wins and two losses in nine games, and' Tait and Payne (5 —I—9)1 —9) are regarded as the most probable finalists. The “glorious uncertainty” of cricket is said to also prevail in bowls, and the winning pair may turn up in Davison and AA'illiams (3- —I—9),1—9), Kehely and Thurston (2 — 2 —9), or Ryan and Dawson (1 —2 —9). Charters and Coleman, Cran and Tyack, Bell and Henderson, each with four losses, are back numbers for the season. The remaining pairs. Law and Henderson, Pascoe and Tonkin, have each played only one game, which was lost in each instance
