The- necessity for truing worn float needles must l>e realised by many imotorists after a ear .lias seen some 'considerable service; the seating of the needle in the float chamber beninos worn, and then the feed to the jet becomes erratic and the running of the engine uneven. The needle should be removed from the float chamber cover plate and fitted into the jaws of a small breast drill, with the torn taper point facing outwards. The needle stem should he sunported as near as possible to the point on the jaws of the vice, which should l he reouisitioned to file the worn tan"- with a smooth file until the worn portion can no longer lie oh-se-ved. The needle should he held at about tod eg. to the level of the' vice. After truing in this manner the needle should l>c given a few rubs with a fine abrasive on its seating.
