Australia, which commenced to-day, was well attended, though the spectators’ keenness was somewhat dampened by the local side’s poor showing. They were all out for 83, five in succession returning to the pavilion without scoring- For this Grimmett was largely responsible, his tally reading eight wickets for 30 runs. The Australians had no difficulty with the bowling, and at the drawing of Stumps had put on 230 for the Ijoss of only three wickets. Scores: — WANGANUI. First Innings.
