A* fire at Palmerston North last evening badly gutted' some two-storeyed premises in the Square, owned by the Childs’ estate and occupied by A. C. B radii eld, florist, P. Grocer, -pram manufacturer, and Miss - Emmett, music teacher. Peary’s pharmacy, on one-side, find E. W. Holbrook’s grocer’s shop on the other side, were drenched with water. The losses were heavy, but the exact damage is not known yet. /All stocks were covered by-insurance. "
