The re is absent now f rom the Hydro Electric works at Arapuni that bustle and outward energy that was so apparent when the big dam was being constructed, for the Bublio Work’® engineers are now concentrating on the power house site. The excavations at one end are within two feet of the required depth, and the inrush of water seems to have been coped with. It is the intention of the engineers to proceed with the excavations and subsequent erection of the power house in sections. By this means it is hoped that the main difficulties will be overcome. The engineers express entire satisfaction with the progress of the work since they took it over; there have been some very difficult phases, and while they arq not prepared to say they are out of the wood yet, still, as said before, they are very well content with the progress. Also the way the river is now settling down in its new course, is still a further cause for hope that their troubles are being surmounted. The Kent Educational Committee is considering the appointment of an itinerant instructor to visit viilage blacksmiths and teach them fashionable wrought iron work.
