(From Our Own Correspondent.) passing of a pioneer. The death ’occurred recently of Mr George Geary. The late Mr Geary was . highly esteemed by all with whom In l fame in contact. illo was a keen sportsman and was a leading member rf the Rifle Club. For many years he wr-s chairman of the local school committee. The funeral was tin* larges 1 seen in the district, for some time. Many beautiful libra! t Chutes wen' planed upon the grave. Sincere sympathy is felt for the bereaved relatives. 'SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The School f'omni'f tec lieb 1 i<monthly meeting on Monday, March 12, when Mr A. B. Afuggcridge presided over the following members. Messrs F. Parker. W. Smart, and R. Schwass. ?\fr P. Goile was unavoidably absent. In his report the teacher slated that the attendance was now regular and the work was proceeding smoothly. Tt was- resolved that the Education Board he requested to paint the interior of the school and effect genera l repairs to the chimney. Airs O. Se'hwass has! again been appointed sewing mistress for the ensuing venr. GENERAL. Small house flies arc very p!”' , ‘if"' this year. A marked absence of big’ flies is very noticeable. The school will, be represented by three of the Spice family at the Amalgamated Schools’ sports at Patoa on Saturday, March 2,4.. Of an athletic family, the young athletes are show ing much promise. Last year William Spice won -the junior gold medal at the Mokoia sports, end with his present form he ■'will be hard to beat. A number of sharemilkers will be moving in June. When -the season lias, finished there is often much movemint amongst the milkers, many of whom purchase farms of their own. PERSONAL. Aliss Hrrvie has . returned from Whakatane.
