DAYLIGHT SAVING.

(To the Editor.)

.Sir, —Although tne above subject is a thing of the past, and I hope dead, the sting is still 'with us, and I would like to express my vie\Vs in a broad straight forward manner. First of all I Avould like to ask and answrnr a few 7 questions. What is this Dominion’s main stability? Produce. What other commodity can this Dominion reckon on to tide it over difficult times? None. If it w 7 as not for the produce exported where -would this Dominion be? In the melting pot? What proportion of this Dominion’s wealth does the produce represent? Ninety-eight per cent. _ As the producers are practically united against the measure, for whom should the Government legislate?. The other two per cent.. Is it fair, just, or reasonable to expect this state of affairs to continue? Absolutely not. Now, sir, if this is not killing the goose that lays the golden egg, ask ane. The good fellowship that existed between town and country is considerably strained and the gulf considerably widened for sports —more sports, still more sports—want to run the show, w 7 hile the less fortunate producers, who seem to have no one to appeal to, keep on plodding aAvay to keep the rank and file in luxury. I venture to say that 75 per cent of the farmers are not making their salt. Why ? Simply because they have no alternative but take what’s offer* ed, after everybody else has had their pick. They have no chance to demand and no hope to jiass the cost on, for if there is a loss, well bear it, but if there is a gain well someone wrnnts (and gets) it. The next session of Parliament will determine whether the Avishes of the producers of this fair country are AA 7 orth .consideration or not and I* hope that members of Parliament, and especially our OAvn member will sit up and take notice, if not heed. I am, etc., — TO THE POINT.
