PURSUED MAN SHOT BY CONSTABLE. 8Y CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT Received 11.15 a.m. to-day. SYDNEY, March 12. William Henry Wilks, an international safe-breaker and burglar, was shot dead by a constable at Manley. Wilkes and a confederate were seen about to break into tearooms at North Stern. His 'companion escaped, but after a. chase over fences, through backyards, lanes and streets, Wilks produced a revolver and fired when the pursuing constable closed with him, but the shot missed. The constable then fired, the bullet reaching Wilks’s heart. He dlied immediately.
