The totalisator handled £14,612 for the day, against £13,309 for the corresponding day last year The- total for the meeting was £26,370, as compaied with £24,036 in 1927, an increase of £9334 The Omahu Hack Hurdles saw a great duel between the favourite and the next backed horse, Revel. The latter was left at the start, and ran last practically the whole way till entering the straight. Revel then came up fast and forced Red Fuchsia all the wav The favourite held out to ain bv“ a length. The Telegraph _ Hack Handicap, was nn exciting event. Moa Bird, just- winning hy half a length, all the others in a field of 11 being close UP in a field of 10 in the Kuao Handicap, Millais and K.aihoro led from the start by three lengths and into the straight, where Frank Ormond’s horse pulled right away, winning by a length. The big moneyed event, the McVay Memorial, drew a field of me, and produced an exciting contest. Huikai and. Goshawk made the pace St if the distance. Black Mint being in a handy position.
