Sir Austen Chamberlain before liis departure, received journalists and emphasised his and Sarwat’s regret at the failure of the Anglo-Egyptian negotiations. He pointed out that Britain was ready under the proposed treaty to submit to the League any Ang.o-Fg\ ptian dispute, even one involving vital interests. This proved Britain’s confidence in the League. THE MACHINE-GUN INCIDENT. The committee appointed to deal with the Hungarian machine-gun discoveries reported that it was necessary to send experts to investigate, in order to complete the inquiry. It was proposed to present a report before the June meeting. The Council, in session, agreed. M. Titulescu is reported to lie aggrieved at Sir Austen Chamberlain’s attitude yesterday, and declined to attend the council meeting. RUMANIAN GOVERNMENT SATISFIED. Received 10.30 a.m. to-day. BUCHAREST, March 11. The Government has telegraphed to M. Titulescu expressing satisfaction with his dealing with the RumanoHungarian . dispute. A.P.A. and “Sun.” Reteived 10.55 a.m. to-day. GENEVA, March 11. France and Holland have signed the treaty of arbitration and conciliation. —A.P.A. and “Sun.”
