Jones attacked aggressively over the early rounds, scoring rights to the body. " The New Zealander, boxing cleanly, attacked with both hands to the head and body and secured a majority of points until the tenth round, when he appeared to tire. Jones forced the fighting, winning the next few rounds by slight margins of points. Purdy’s eye was badly gashed as the result of a collision of their heads in tlie fourteenth round, giving Jones the advantage in the concluding round, but the New Zealander had a sufficient margin in his favour to win the title comfortably.
