The game of bowls is popular among the members of many locSl bodies, and ou Thursday a rink from New Plymouth Borough Council had a very enjoyable time when visiting Inglewood and playing a match with representatives of the latter council. New Plyouth won by 29 to 22, and the outcome of the visit is an invitation for a return match at New Plymouth and a proposed tourney among rail the local bodies of the province on 4 February 23. The locale will be fixed later. KAPONGA DEFEAT ELTHAM. Yesterday’s banner match at Kaponga between Kaponga and Eltham resulted in the narrow defeat of the visitors by three points. In • consequence of continued fine weather the green was very fast, and some excellent play was witnessed. With now two wins to their credit and coming on to their game as the season advances, the Kaponga. men are sanguine of running into a good position.
