VENGEANCE ON REDS.

RUSSIANS IN CANTON. FATE OF CONSUL’S SffAFF. HONGKONG, Dec. 20. Reports from an authoritative source .state that, by means of troops < under the command, of General Li Fuk-lum, the Canton authorities raided the Soviet Consulate-General. The Consul-General escaped, but the troops, on entering the building found the Yice-Consul and the whole subordinate staff intact.

Realising their fate, they put up a struggle. Two Russian women were shot down summarily, while the YiceConsul and the remainder of the staff were herded together, shackled, and taken in procession to the city prison. During the route the Russians were practically given over to the mercies of the mob. They inflicted dreadful mutilations on tiie prisoners, who ultimately reached the prison more dead than alive. It is believed that the Yice-Consul has since been executed. The mobs, who are wreaking vengeance on those Russians in the midst of ruined homes, which are a result of the recent Red Terrorist reign, are stated to be in fiendish mood. _ Attempts have been made to obtain the intervention af the Foreign Consular body at Shameen, but the result is unknown. Apart from the Russians, the radical Labour leades have been put to death, and also all known “Red” sympathisers, including 14 bobbed-haired, girls, who were summarily executed in the streets.’ Canton’s populace is determined to kill every ‘‘Red’’ in vengeance for the terrible three days of burning, killing, looting, and raping. ■Since Canton’s terrorism, 300 “Reds” have been arested in Hongkong and are awaiting shipment back to Canton.
