“MONA LISA.”
.PAINTING PROVED AUTHFN X-RAY TESTS. HY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT Received 9.30 a.m. t.o-dav. PARIS, Dec. 30. Louvre authorities submitted Davinci's “Mona Lisa” to X-ray and ultraviolet tests, and announced that they conclusively prove that the painted pigments are of 1500, which is about the right date; also that, there have been no alterations since it was first painted. M. Verne, director of the Louvre, has also submitted the whole of the nine thousand pictures of the collection to X-ray and photographing through violet ray. Though he refuses to publish the results, the news that the “'Mona Lisa.” is authentic, despite the theft in August, 1011, is, however, too good to be kept secret.
