DAIRYING RETURNS.
A COMPARISON . TARANAKI AND WELLINGTON PROVINCES LEAD. The ‘following fcompaipsons an regard to dairying returns in the Waikato and Rangitaiki Plains and locally are of interest: WAIKATO. The Now Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company paid out advances last week on the basis of Is 2d per lb lor superfine butter-fat for butter-making and Is 4d per lb for superfine butter-fat for cheese-making for the November supply. The company distributed among its suppliers £495,828 for butter-fat Compared with the figure for the corresponding month cf last year (£400,036) this represents an increase or £85,792. Following on the release of oyer £lll,OOO by nine other co-operative companies in tlio Waikato, this allocation makes a total of £596,828 distributed in tho Waikato for butterfat supplies. RANGITAIKI PLAINS. In 1919 the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company paid to suppliers £849 lor the month of November, and for the corresponding period of this year the company paid a, total of £35,770. The latter amount includes the final bonus in respect of last season’s output, amounting to £10,997. and the advance payment to the 231 suppliers to the factory for cream supplied during last month, £24>773. These figures show an increase of 20 per cent, on last year’s returns, and it is expected that this year, under favourable circumstances, the company will manufacture 1600 tons of butter, or approximately 200 tons more than the output for last season. After four yearn of cheesemaking, the company commenced the manufacture of butter in 1919, and since that date each year Inis seen a new record established both as regards the quantity of tlic output and the amount of money distributed to suppliers. While the above figures represent a very large amount of money, the payout for butter-fat is very much below that received by dairy farmers in the Taranaki and AVellington provinces for November, where dairy farmers received on ’ an average 2d per 11) more than their fellow farmers in the Waikato.
