Quin travelled yesterday to> certain of the schools of the district for the purpose of presenting points prizes obtained at the South Tat a aula sciliooil spouts held at Hatvera last AVedneisdayq. At ALanaia tne headmiaeter (Air J. Nairn) introduced the visitors. Air Purser .said they were there to thank the children iur their attendance on Wednesday. One of their pupils, Alias B. C. He appealed to the children to do their utmost while at school. Education was a splendid thing and was necessary if they wished to succeed in life. Athletics were necessary for them to keep in good health and so be able to hold their positions. Air F. Quin considered it was impossible to have a healthy mind without a healthy body. Hence' the sports filled a 'big gap in the school curriculum. . At Kapuni Alessrs Dixon and Purser spoke on the same lines as previously. Miss P. Freeman was presented! with a purse—the senior girls’ points prize. Aferit cards were also presented. At Afangatoki, Alessrs Dixon. Harding. and Purser spoke with reference to the excellent state of the school grounds. Air. Dixon referred to the improved opportunities afforded the hoys of to-day as compared with those of yesterday, and he urged them to make the most of their opportunities. A. Hoskin received the senior boys’ points prize a watch. Three cheers were given for him. At Eltham Air. A C. Ricketts, chairman of the school committee, in introducing the speakers, referred to the donation of the banner. Air. Purser said that the Eltham team had put up a great record. It was the most decisive win since the inception of the sports. Air. Dixon, in presenting the banner, said it was a great day for the school. He explained that the banner had ome as a result of the sports held on the occasion of the visit of the Prince of AYales in 1920. He hoped they would win it again. R. Jackson had won the junior hoys’ points prize, for which he also received a watch. Aferit cards were distributed. Air Bary, the headmaster, made n’.casing reference to the time and work Mr A. E.
