MOKAU BRIDGE.
OPENING CER EAT ON Y. (by telegraph—press association. ) NEW PLYMOUTH. Dec. 17. The Mokau bridge, on the main highway between Auckland and New Plymouth. way formally opened at noon to-day. The ribbon was cut- by the Hfe of the Minister of Public Works Air K. S. Williams), while the Prime Minister declared the bridge open. In his speech Mr Coates said that tbs? revised estimate of £35.000 bad not been exceeded. The bridge, which was 570 font in length, with a lifting span 'nt the centre, cost approximately £34.'OO. while the expenditure on the approaches had brought the total cost up to the estimate.
