WHAKAMARA.
(From Our Own correspondent.) SCHOOL CONCERT. Over one hundred adults assembled at a school concert held by tlie school children in the local hall o.n Wednesday evening. ' The proceeds, which are to he devoted to the purchasing a musical instrument for the school, amounted to £8 11s. Mr J. Dobson, chairman of the school committee, was spokesman and thanked the children and those concerned in making the evening a success. Music for the evening was supplied by Mrs Gulliver. Another item which greatly assisted the fund's was a. cake presented by Mrs Prior, which realised £4 2>s. The distribution of prizes, which followed the concert added zest- to the evening, when each child received a reward for his or her year’s endeavours. The numerous items were greatly appreciated by the audience. A special feature being a playette entitled “Redskin and White,” in which the children acted very creditably. Several other items caused great- amusement to the audience. The evening concluded with a dance and the singing of “Auk Lang Syne.”
