HAWKE CUP. PENNY TO JOIN TEAM. The vacancy in the Hawke Cup team caused by the defection of Lay has been filled by tlio. addition of Penny' Owing to a misunderstanding, the South selector (H. R. Penny) notified Barker lie would be required, and lie preferred to let the matter stand. Mr. Cooper, however, understood that in such a case the selection of emergency would be feviewed, and preferred that Penny should fill the position. The selectors being unable to agree, the president (Mr. Furrie)_ was called in to decide, and he did this as above. Barker was advised of tlie position and raised no objection. He will now be twelfth man, but in the event of bis not going to New Plymouth, a New Plymouth man will be selected as first emergency.
