REQUEST TO PROHIBIT COMPETITION. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 11.50 a.m. to-day. MELBOURNE, June 15. A deputation from the Women’s Citizens’ Movement asked _the Chief Secretary to prohibit competitions for girls in bathing suits at picture theatres. Mr P renders as# replied that, _in the absence of a. strong body of public opinion, and under the existing law, the was unable to prevent bathing beauty competitions.
