MOKOIA SPORTS.

(To the Editor)

Sir,—l wornd like l to take up “Witness's” grievance re Mokora Sports Association. in tiie first place, it us an understood tiling tnat each, player receives a letund after playing in a seveu-a-side tournament. ii ihe does not it is Ins own tault, as liei should go -to 'receive it. Ite nomi n.a.tiort of each team is separate from gate charges, if the association allowed everyone in free who was carrying football togs they would be at a loss, as plenty could earn,' jersey and boots, it is optional whether a player or anyone else takes a car into the ground. He takes it in for personal safety, not to undress 1 and! dress in, as “Witness” suggests. Such, a thing would hardly be proper where a crowd were wandering to and fro. Then, again, ‘‘Witness” seems to think the association should have proper shower baths, clean towels, etc. He forgets the association is only just getting on a footing and will in due course improve the facilities of their ground. I happened to be a spectator that afternoon, and at no part of it did I see fifteen teamsin the dressing tent at once. “Witness” puts: all the blame on the association tor games played in the falling darkness. He forgets to mention that several of the teams did not turn up to time, and the association waited to give everyone'a fair chance. It is the different clubs who want to wake up, not the association. According to “Witness,” the .association .should have a full St. John Ambulance corps on the ground to cope with injuries. ‘‘Witness” suggests he knows one party who never got a refund for helping an injured player. Well, what is two shillings, anvway ? Perhaps there were others willing, to help in that way who would have thought more of an injured player than their two shilling®. “Witness” seems to think that the association should run the whole turn-out buckshee. He forgets the concert and .dance were extra, and the association has to pav for the whole issue. Last of all “Witness* expects the teams to get their refreshments buchshee. He again forgets that the ladies have worked hard at home as well as on the ground to cope with the needs of the public and ve according to “Witness,” that should all be done for nothing. I will leave this to a. more abler pen than mine. Thanking you for your valuable space, I am, etc., v INTERESTED.
