MEETING OF THE BOARD.

Reporting this week’s meeting of the Dairy, Produce Board, the “New Zealand Dairy Produce Exporter” states that the board has authorised up to £3OOO expenditure in the coming year on dairy research, the Government contributing an equal amount. The board’s London manager was empowered to make -certain! alterations in the amounts of produce to be made available for sale weekly. Of 2.100,000 boxes of butter estimated to be under control, one-half had been sold by April 23. No. 1 pool has averaged 161 s, equivalent to Is 3id, f.0.b.; No. 2 pool so far lias averaged 158 s 2d, equal to Is 3d, f.0.b., including Canadian and American sales at higher than London prices. In the cheese pool l 426,000 crate®, equal to 46.3 of the total,, haA r e been sold, the average price being 83s sd. Although a considerable' surplus had accrued on the sales prior to March 14, London prices have; been insufficient, to coA-er the 7d advance, and a portion of the surplus would be.therefore needed to meet deficits on original advances.
