STRATFORD RACING CLUB.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the general committee of the Stratford Racing Club was held on January 18, there being present Mesrs S. Pitt, (chairman), H. E. Abraham, J. Frederic, V. Smith, D. J. Malone, F. Whittle, and A. Stewart. An apology was received from Mr. A. W. Budge and leave of absence for the meeting was granted. An interim statement of accounts in connection with the recent race meeting was presented. The club’s representative was requested to furnish a report in connection with expenses regarding operation of the totalisator. Race card sales account and ladies’ and gents’ cloakroom account were passed as satisfactory. The matter of improvement in the horse accommodation was discussed and it was resolved that, the question of horse accommodation be deferred for a later meeting, when further improvements are under discussion. In consideration of the adverse weather, particularly on the second day, the committee was well satisfied with the financial result. The caretaker was voted a bonus and the secretary was instructed to convey the committee’s appreciation of his work. In discussing the matter of holidays it was suggested that the caretaker might, with advantage to the club, inspect the appointments' of other clubs during his holidays. This matter was left in the hands of the course committee. A vote of thanks and appreciation was accorded the stewards and honorary officials in consideration of their services, and also Messrs Newton King. Ltd., for the use of the ambulance and starter’s car. Mr. Frederic reported in connection with repairs to cottage and stated that- the work was in hand. It was resolved- that the matter of ordering a- supply of metal for the roads be left in the hands of the chairman and Air. Stewart with power to act. Air. C. 11. Washer, judge, wrote making sundry suggestions which were noted for next meeting. A report was received in connection with the recent installation of teter phones, which worked satisfactorily at the meeting. The caretaker’s report in connection with training operations was received. The matter of further improvements in connection with the club’s •appointments will receive the consideration of the committee at an early date.
