EGMONT SUMMER MEETING.

FIRST DAY’S ACCEPTANCES. QUALITY CANDIDATES. When the closing hour struct last evening acceptances had been made lor approximately 100 candidates in the first eight contests of the Egmont Raring Club’s summer meeting which opens on Wednesday. A glance through the names shows that those to he carded are of a uniformly good standard and in four of the events the lists have been particularlv well filled. While the day’s big event, the Egmont Oup, lias diavn only eight possible runners, they make an. imposing company and a sternly fought race may be anticipated. Sixteen acceptance fees have been paid for the Nolan Gold Cup and a similar number for. the day’s concluding event the Waipapa handicap. Thirteen in each of the Juvenile and Tokaora handicaps will appear on the programme, while the I lying has atti acted eleven, and the Hurdles and Wliareroa Welter, have drawn eight and seven candidates respectively. The track is in splendid condition for fast racing and exciting contests are indicated. Given fair weather the popular Egmont course should be tne scene of a large concourse of racing followers on both days of the meeting. The acceptances are as follow:
