DEPUTATION.

S.T.A.A. MEET TELEGRAPH ENGINEERS.

For the purpose of securing approval to erect an illuminated directional sign at the intersection of High and Princes Streets, a deputation from the South Tai-anaki Automobile Association, consisting of Messrs W. O’Callaghan, 35. O. Hooker and W. G. Walkley, waited upon Messrs C. S. Plank, deputy chief telegraph engineer, and J. McDermott, district engineer this morning. Mr O’Callaghan outlined the proposal, and said that the scheme was to use the department’s posts on the corner as support.

The engineers expressed their favourable consideration of the request, and intimated that no obstacles would be raised to the carrying out of the proposal. They pointed out that the department desired to assist the association in every way possible.
